Another great resource from DSIG Member, Terry Kibelstis…This group is supported by NDSS and is working to advocate for Down syndrome issues at the PA state level. A number of us met through work on the federal and PA ABLE Act. This may be something our members are interested in, and it may become another resource for our families as issues arise.
The Pennsylvania Down Syndrome Advocacy Coalition (PDSAC) (website PDSAC.org) is seeking volunteers to fill the position of Regional Coordinator. The newly formed statewide coalition of parents, stakeholders and self-advocates within the Pennsylvania Down syndrome community is focused on informing and influencing decision-makers at the community, state and national levels about priority issues important to our community. The coalition is guided a steering committee of volunteer members that will include Regional Coordinators for Eastern PA, Central PA, and Western PA. The role of the Regional Coordinators includes: coordination of outreach and communication to legislators representing districts in their region; serving as a conduit for local affiliates and PDSAC; and, serving on the PDSAC Steering Committee. If you are interested in serving as a Regional Coordinator, please contact Mitch Rothholz ([email protected]) or Erik Weiner ([email protected]).
Pennsylvania Down Syndrome Advocacy Coalition (PDSAC) seeks to improve, through legislative, regulatory and policy advocacy, the quality of life for all individuals with Down syndrome, regardless of age, at the community, state, and national levels.
